A Bit About Me

I learned long ago that my passions for leadership and enterprise excellence were not destinations but steps along a journey. My ability to see the gifts and goodness in people, coupled with a desire to help them develop, has served me well in building successful high-performance teams of engaged people led by strong people-centric leaders. We are in a new era, and different leadership skills are necessary to support new generations of associates. We must help people find purpose in what they do, help them to develop, enable them to creatively solve problems, and celebrate their contributions. If you’re also seeking excellence in these areas, I’d love to hear from you.

Background

Transforming Enterprises with Lean Excellence and People-Centric Leadership

I have held many technical and senior leadership roles in the medical device and specialty chemical process industry, including Product Development, Technology, Operations Management, Supply Chain, Engineering, and Facilities. As a chemical engineer with executive leadership training, I have balanced technical challenges with managerial needs and learned to value the marriage of efficient systems and engaged people.

For over two decades, I’ve applied Lean as a foundation for enterprise excellence and robust work culture, leading transformational activities that culminated in a Shingo Prize-winning book on Lean design, “The Lean 3P Advantage,” that has helped companies around the world develop effective new products, manufacturing processes, and design and build layouts across multiple sectors, including manufacturing, healthcare, and government.

I’ve been a member of the Association of Manufacturing Excellence Champions Club for senior leaders and helped develop AME’s people-centric leadership training. While with Siemens, I became certified and delivered coaching training to leaders throughout the Healthineers Diagnostics business.

I embrace the belief that business should be a force for good in the world. Associates who feel valued, are growing, and enjoy their work will drive company success and be better spouses, parents, and community members. This has been my experience at work and home with my wonderful wife, Rose, and our daughter, Alexandra. The love we share inspires me to be a better person. Outside of work, I enjoy writing, reading, composing, and playing music, church activities, hiking, boating, and traveling.
